Primary School Teacher

I decided to train as a primary school teacher having discovered that I loved working with children and the sense of being able to provide opportunities that had the potential to make a difference! My role as a primary school teacher is exciting and fulfilling. I enjoy being able to provide opportunities for children to experience music in a variety of contexts as well as being able to nurture potential and encourage a love of the arts.

I first played with the ASO about 25 years ago, when I joined the orchestra for a year, and have fond memories of playing pieces such as the Montagues and Capulets from Romeo and Juliet, the Pink Panther theme and extracts from Handel’s Royal Fireworks Music. I wasn’t able to continue after that initial year, due to other long standing musical commitments, but was delighted after a long absence, to be invited to join the orchestra for a second time about ten years ago. And the rest, as the saying goes, is history! I’ve been in the role of President since April 2020. As President, I am responsible for taking the chair at all meetings and overseeing the governance side of the orchestra.

When I'm not playing my violin or teaching, I love to shop and have a particular passion for shoes! I'm always on the lookout for my next 'must have' pair! I enjoy reading and belong to a book club. I also like to cook for family and friends and am always keen to try out new dishes.
